How do Sarasota Surf Lessons work?

You chose a day that works best for you and book a lesson. We recommend having some flexibility around your chosen date so we can find the best waves for you.  Our team of coaches will reach out to you to discuss the best time, location and equipment needed for your lesson. If there are no waves (or the waves are too big) and we don’t feel a lesson is a good idea, we will work with you to find a better day or refund you.

Once we do pin down a good day, time and location, we are ready to go! We will meet you at the set location with boards and wetsuits (if needed) for some fun!

How much do the surf lessons cost?

$100 per surfer for a one on one lesson, $150 for two surfers and one coach.  If you have a larger group, let us know and we can try to accommodate.

How long do the surf lessons last?

This rate includes about an hour of in the water time with your coach plus 20-30 minutes on land.  If you are having fun and would like to rent the board to keep practicing, let us know.

Where are the surf lessons held?

We try to find the best waves and that means we may move around a little.  Our prime location for lessons is on Lido Key and Siesta Key at Turtle Beach.  However, we may recommend Nokomis Jetty as well, depending on conditions.  Your coach will work with you to find the best place.

What are the surf lessons like?

Beginner surf lessons will focus on all the important fundamentals you should know before hitting the water by yourself.  This includes beach safety, body positioning, basic pop up techniques, the basics of the equipment and of course, catching waves.

For those with a little bit more experience, intermediate surf lessons will focus on riding unbroken waves, how to paddle out, how to put yourself in the best position to catch a wave, how to turn and ride across the wave, advance pop up techniques and much more! Once you talk with your coach, they will develop a plan that works best for you.  We want you to get as much out of the surf lesson as you can.

What is Included with the surf lesson?

  • We have a variety of surfboards but are really liking the BlackFin Learn to Surf longboards by SurfTech.  These range from 9’0-10’0 offering stability that is great for a new surfer.  Do you have your own board?  We can work with that too!
