Siesta Key Kayak & Paddleboard Tours and Rentals

Mangrove and Hidden Beach Kayak Tour | Siesta Key
  • Most Popular!
From $57

This tour starts at Turtle Beach on the South end of Siesta Key.   We start on the intercostal and paddle down a short canal to the mangrove islands of the Jim Neville Preserve.   This is such a beautiful place to paddle, with twists and turns around the mangrove islands.  At the mid-point of the tour, we stop at Midnight Pass Beach, which boasts some of the most remarkable shelling in the area. This beach is only accessible by boat so we may have it to ourselves.  Such a beautiful place for a quick swim or just stopping for a few moments to relax.  On the way back, keep your eyes open for lazy manatees,  frolicking dolphins, or hunting seabirds.

Paddle Siesta Key’s Most Scenic Waterways — and Discover a Secret Beach Only Accessible by Boat

Most visitors to Siesta Key see the famous white sand beach. Very few ever discover what lies just around the corner — a stunning chain of mangrove islands, crystal-clear open water, and a secluded beach, littered with shells, that you can only reach by paddling there yourself.

This is kayaking on Siesta Key the way it’s meant to be experienced.

The Siesta Key Kayak Experience — What to Expect

Start at Turtle Beach — One of Sarasota’s Best-Kept Secrets

You’ll launch from Turtle Beach, tucked away on the quiet south end of Siesta Key — far from the crowds of the main beach. From here, you’ll paddle through a canal that opens up into something truly spectacular.

Explore the Jim Neville Marine Preserve

As the canal opens into Sarasota Bay, you’ll enter the Jim Neville Marine Preserve — a breathtaking series of mangrove islands sitting right in the middle of open water. Wind your way around and between the islands, duck through small mangrove tunnels, and take in one of the most beautiful paddling environments on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Every turn reveals something new.

A Hidden Beach That Few Tourists Ever Find

At the midpoint of the tour, you’ll arrive at either Midnight Pass Beach or the nearby sandbar — both only accessible by water. This is the moment guests remember most. No crowds, no noise, just a pristine stretch of Gulf-fed shoreline where the shelling is exceptional and the water is clear enough to see straight to the bottom. Shark teeth hunters love this spot.

Stunning Water Clarity — A Silver Lining from the 2024 Hurricanes

After Hurricanes Helene and Milton struck in October 2024, Midnight Pass reopened for the first time in decades — allowing a direct flow of Gulf  water into the bay. The result is water clarity that has to be seen to be believed. What was once a relatively calm, enclosed bay is now flushed daily with clean, clear Gulf water. It’s one of the most beautiful paddling environments in all of Sarasota right now.

Wildlife Around Every Corner

  • Manatees — sometimes visible right from the launch before you even get in your kayak
  • Dolphins — frequently spotted in the open water of the preserve
  • Birds — herons, egrets, osprey, and more throughout the mangrove islands
  • Marine life — with the improved water clarity, you’ll spot fish, crabs, and other sea creatures beneath your hull.
